Hey everyone! Welcome to Warnament Dev Updates! Warnament is a grand strategy game, made by a solo dev Denis Makhortov. It is as deep as classic games in the genre, but only takes minutes to get into action. You can play out historic scenarios or create your own: take control of a nation on a global map and take it to glory by taking over territories and achieving military, technical, cultural, or political advantage. It is a spiritual successor to Cold Path, another game with a similar philosophy.

We all knew it was meant to happen sooner or later. Children grow so fast, but games (usually) grow even faster: it seems like it was only yesterday that we celebrated Warnament's announcement, and now here we are - with a playable version and what not. But wait, there's more! For starters, take our extended gameplay trailer:
Into the Beta-Verse
Yeah, closed alpha is cool but did you try closed beta? We received a gazillion of questions about how to play the game, so we felt like we must comply.
Simply head to Warnament.com or our Itch.io page, and get yourself a supporter's pack! The pricing starts at $0.99 and it gets you access to Warnament closed beta (on PC & Mobile), along with a standalone scneario editor. If you pay more, you'll get some digital goodies, and top supporters will get a free version of Cold Path on PC, an honorable mention in the credits and full version of Warnament, when it's out (other editions provide access to the beta but not the full game).
Tl; dr - watch this 1-minute video with all the essential details about closed Beta access.
And if you're not yet ready to dive into the Beta… Let's just say there's a certain Steam event in June, which implies many demos being released for everyone to play for free. Wink-wink, nudge-nudge!
Oh, and you can officially wishlist Warnament on Steam now! We've got a Steam page running, why not wishlist the game there? Maybe even right now:

Situation Translation
Serious decisions call for serious measures: we felt like we need to have the game translated into many languages, since we've gone so far with it.
And translate the game we did! Not ourselves, of course: we've used a chatGPT-like AI. In the meantime, we were having tons of fun (really, really lots of fun) trying to adapt in-game fonts for all of the newly available 28 languages.
Of course, it's but a temporary solution. Although who knows how far AIs will go by the time we start working on final translation for the full release of Warnament! Just a couple of days back our big brothers from Luden.io managed to create a prototype of a game using only AI-based tools (with sprinkles of human coding). Here's their story, if you're curious.
What's Next?
Apart from the aforementioned events, we keep developing the game mechanics! Up next is trading between nations: at the moment, one can get some passive income from the exchange of goods, but soon there will be an option to voluntarily exchange resources and territories for money and other stuff, like all grand strategies do!
Adding this feature also implies work on the bots’ AI, so they could adequately react to your cunning trading strategies.
We're also simultaneously working on making the interface more nimble (to keep up with the truly great and swift minds playing the game) by adding hotkeys. This will also save you some energy because you won't need to move your mouse around so much. And the brain is the most energy-consuming part of a human's body, so - you're welcome!
Until we meet again. Truly exciting times lie ahead of us!
We'll keep you posted as the development of Warnament progresses forward. To keep in touch, Sign up on the website to get a notification once the free demo is out. Or join us on Discord to participate in the development directly!
